About the Camp Directors
Michael Cabana is a 2001 Catawba College graduate; he was a four-year member of the Catawba tennis program. He was first team All-South Atlantic Conference for four years, earning Catawba’s team MVP award for the 1998-99 seasons. He is currently enjoying his 12th season as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Wingate University, earning SAC Coach of the Year honors in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Cabana was awarded the ITA Division II Southeast Region Women's Tennis Coach of the Year in 2016. He has worked with many top-level college coaches including those at Notre Dame, Illinois, Penn State and Virginia Tech. Cabana is a certified USPTA Elite Tennis professional.
Joel Roberts is a 2017 Presbyterian College graduate and currently enrolled at Wingate in the MASM program. He was a member of the PC tennis program. In his Freshman year, he helped his team to win the Big South Conference Regular Season. He was a two time All-Big South doubles team and three time ITA Scholar Athlete. He finished his career as fifth all time in career doubles wins with 52 and sixth all time with 83 career wins. He was a two time Big South Conference Regular Season winner and was a part of the first ever Conference Tournament Championship since PC transitioned to Division I.
